time passes between my communications and a year sometimes feels like the blink of an eye... time just runs out every day before i get to explore and/or share everywhere i'd like to explore and/or share... but the emails sit in the inboxes and i take a day every year or so to read and respond cuz i never know where or when someone or something wonderful might be found... i hope you are finding more smiles than frowns along your way :)

I hope this helps. Edwin, empathy is not the glue that holds us together. It is a skill some have that isn't particularly pleasant for them, but sometimes can be good for others. Compassion is the glue that holds us together:)

Edwin, most people have the potential for empathy, but do not "have" it. Compassion, they may have. Empathy is different. It is looking at people and understanding them. Compassion is caring. Empathy is very different. It isn't always pleasant. It is knowing whether a compliment is sincere or not. It is knowing how people are trying to use you, (not that it works:) Empathy is truly being able when you choose, to project yourself into another's skin and understand. It is having people trust you implicitly with things they don't share with others because they instinctively know you won't betray them because you can't. I know many things about people I didn't seek to know. They just tell me. I don't know why. I am safe I guess:)

My definition is knowing what it is that motivates people, seeing them as a transparent entity with insecurities, fears, hatreds that I often don't understand.  What I see when I see them is often very different from how they view themselves.  It is trying to figure out how I can convince them of the potential that I see in them is the real view and that what they see is false.  People have always been transparent to me when I am paying attention.   When I am distracted, sometimes not.  When I want to see I can.  With the exception of a very few, which ought to be drown at birth, most people are not bad, merely confused, scared, insecure.  The bad ones, and they are very few, there is no hope for.  They like the way they are.  There is true evil in this world, Edwin.  Not much, but some.

Edwin, I have already read your newspaper and find it very helpful, especially for empaths that do not realize what is "wrong with them."  I was lucky enough to be raised by an empath that figured it out on his own and had my defenses in place long before they were needed. What you are doing can potentially be very helpful.  Good luck and best wishes.  Question:  Are you also an empath?

You know, the experiences you are describing have been my life.  It is impossible to hate even the most destructive people because you know what makes them tick and the insecurities that drive their extremely destructive behavior.  But truthfully, what good does it do?  The ones you can reach and teach are only a few.  The majority continue on doing what they have always done which is usually destructive not only to themselves but others. I sometimes wonder what is our purpose?  We can't really fix much.  We suffer much.  Why are we here?

Thank you for the link.  It might have helped a young empath who doesn't understand what is happening to her.  I really appreciate it.:)  We are all better off when one of these young people survives.
